Pay: CA$20.00 - CA$28.00 per hour

Deer Lake Law Group is a small law office located in the City of Burnaby. We are pleased to offer a friendly and flexible environment for lawyer and assistants to work cooperatively in a client-centered legal practice.

We are looking for a legal assistant who is highly organized and detail-oriented to provide well-rounded support for lawyers and fellow legal assistants. Conveyancing experience preferred.

Duties

- Answering phones, greeting clients and providing excellent customer service
- Booking initial consultations, actively managing the office calendar, scheduling and confirming client appointments
- Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic records
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, manually or electronically
- Formatting letters, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Preparing and filing legal documents
- Corresponding with clients and other lawyers
- Maintaining lawyers’ calendars with court dates, examinations for discovery, and meetings




- Managing internal records systems, including bring forward system
- Preparing invoices
- Assisting with various office administration tasks and other related duties as assigned

Qualification:
- A bachelor degree
- Superior organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities and function well under pressure
- Possess a robust attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and support other team members whenever necessary
- Must be proficient in English, second language is an asset
- Must be proficient in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge and/or work experiences in a law office in Canada is an asset
