About The Opportunity TalentWorld is currently seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join a Canadian legal team of a rapidly growing international automotive and mobility organization.
This is a highly visible role providing strategic and practical legal advice to senior leadership and business teams across Canada. The successful candidate will support a broad range of commercial, regulatory, corporate, compliance, and dispute-related matters while helping the organization navigate its continued growth in the Canadian market.
The ideal candidate will combine strong legal expertise with commercial judgment and the ability to provide clear, practical advice in a quick-paced business environment.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Contracts & Transactions
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of complex commercial agreements, including:
- Automotive finance agreements
- Dealer and distributor agreements
- Fleet sales agreements
- Supply and procurement contracts
- After-sales service agreements
- Operational and service-related agreements
- Assess legal and commercial risks associated with business transactions and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Ensure agreements align with corporate policies, business objectives, and applicable Canadian laws and regulations.
Legal Advisory & Risk Management
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to business leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal and commercial risks across the organization.
- Provide practical, business-oriented recommendations that support organizational objectives.
- Monitor changes in Canadian legislation, regulations, and industry requirements affecting the automotive and mobility sectors.
- Develop and implement legal risk management strategies and best practices.
Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Support corporate compliance initiatives, policies, and governance requirements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory obligations, ethical standards, and corporate conduct.
- Develop and deliver legal and compliance training to business teams.
- Promote legal and regulatory risk awareness throughout the organization.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution
- Manage and coordinate litigation,
claims, disputes, arbitration, and other legal proceedings.
- Work closely with external legal counsel and oversee outside legal service providers.
- Develop dispute-resolution strategies and provide recommendations to management.
- Monitor legal matters to ensure effective, timely, and commercially appropriate resolution.
Cross-Functional Business Support
- Partner with Sales, Finance, Procurement, Network Development, HR, Operations, and other business functions.
- Provide legal support for initiatives such as market expansion, dealer network development, financial services programs, and business growth.
- Translate complex legal issues into clear, practical business solutions.
- Act as a trusted legal advisor to senior management and key stakeholders.
Global & Strategic Legal Support
- Collaborate with regional and global legal teams to ensure consistency with corporate legal standards and policies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of legal frameworks, processes, and best practices.
- Provide legal advice on strategic initiatives and cross-border transactions as required.
- Support the organization as it continues to expand its presence in the Canadian market.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday What’s In It For You
- The typical hiring range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000 per year and is specific to candidates located in Ontario. The salary will be determined based on your knowledge, skills and competencies, and you’ll have room to grow after you join!

Qualifications & Experience Education & Licensing
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B., J.D., or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Admission to the Bar in Canada or another common law jurisdiction is required.
Professional Experience
- 8+ years of legal experience, ideally gained through a combination of in-house counsel and/or reputable law firm experience.
- Strong experience in
- Commercial contracts
- Contract negotiation and drafting
- Corporate/commercial law
- Regulatory compliance
- Legal risk management
- Experience within the automotive, mobility, manufacturing, transportation, or industrial sectors is a strong asset.
- Experience managing cross-border or multi-jurisdictional legal matters is highly desirable.
- Experience with dealer/franchise law, automotive regulatory matters, recalls, litigation, privacy, or dealer compliance would be considered a significant asset.

- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is required.
