Responsibilities

- Accurately measure and inspect logs and timber loads using specialized scaling equipment, ensuring compliance with legal and industry standards
- Verify load dimensions, weights, and documentation for accuracy before transport or sale
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, skid steers, or other construction equipment to assist with loading, unloading, and movement of logs
- Conduct routine maintenance on tools, power tools, and equipment to ensure safety and optimal performance
- Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology to record data related to logging sites and inventory management
- Collaborate with loggers, truck drivers, and forestry personnel to coordinate efficient loading processes




- Maintain detailed records of measurements, inspections, and operational activities for reporting purposes
- Support landscape maintenance tasks around logging sites as needed to promote safety and environmental stewardship

Experience

- Valid license as a log scaler with demonstrated knowledge of measurement techniques and industry regulations
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance
- Construction experience or background working with hand tools and power tools in outdoor or industrial settings
- Experience with GIS technology or mapping software is a plus
- Commercial driving experience preferred for operating trucks or transport vehicles involved in logging operations
- Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices beneficial for site upkeep and environmental care
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
