JOB SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing care to the residents and supervision to assigned unit staff. In fulfilling these functions, the LPN is responsible for ensuring that the Mission and Values of the Home are supported and promoted. The nurse is required to keep up to date of all policies and protocols of Holy Family Home.

The position will promote the Mission of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate by supporting the care values regarding the provision of quality care, loving workplace, Christian ideals and principles, respect for life and dignity of person, and preservation of our traditional ethnic customs.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Current active registration with the Manitoba Association of Licensed Practical Nurses.
2. Basic CPR at Health Care Provider level.
3. Minimum of one year previous experience desired.
4. Ability to provide care in a multi-disciplinary setting.
5. High moral standards and a compassionate, caring approach to working with the elderly and infirm.
6. Maturity, sound judgment, good decision making abilities.
7. Respect of and ability to adhere to the Mission,



Goals and Objectives of the facility based on Catholic Principles.
8. Knowledge of the Ukrainian language is an asset.
9. Good mental and physical health, and good attendance to meet the demands of the position.
10. Computer skills. Previous experience with MDS preferred.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Care & Resident Care Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Using a variety of sources and assessment skills, the LPN collects, interprets and documents data regarding the residents’ physical, psycho-social and spiritual needs at the time of admission and throughout the resident’s stay in the facility.
2. Assists in the formulation of the plan of care based on the collected data.
3. Implements selected nursing care procedures as indicated in the resident care plan and according to departmental policies.
