The Opportunity

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) Program providing nursing care to individuals using substances. This role works to full scope and is rooted in a community-focused, trauma-informed approach. OAT LPN supports equitable access to health services through health assessment, health education and health promotion.

You’ll collaborate with a passionate multidisciplinary team to enhance the quality of life as the individual, family, or community defines it while working to reduce barriers and supporting equitable, rapid access to life-saving OAT therapy.

- LOCATION: Office location 1001 10 Ave SW, Outreach within Calgary Area
- REPORTS TO: OAT Team Lead
- CONTRACT TYPE: Temporary Contract (6 months)
- SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
- SALARY RATES: LPN Starting Rate: $31.97 - $33.55

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Culture

- Contribute to the development of CUPS’ Peer-Driven Enhanced OAT Program.
- Foster a trauma-informed, approachable environment for clients, colleagues, and guests.
- Share knowledge and support ongoing continuous improvement across the team.




- Practice in alignment with CLPNA guidelines and uphold CUPS’ values and service models.

Integrated Care & Community Support

- Deliver nursing care both on-site and through outreach in diverse community settings as listed above.
- Support client goals through rapid access to OAT therapy, health education, case management, and harm reduction strategies that address opioid use and other social determinants of health that may be impeding recovery
- Collaborate across departments to ensure low-barrier, person-centered care.
- Support the creation and provision of education and protocols of service delivery to facilitate education, assessments, and follow-up care to the target population both in clinic and out in the community, utilizing people with lived and living experience (PWLLE) on team as subject matter experts
- Maintain client dignity and confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.

Operational Alignment

- Support daily team planning and communication to provide flexible, responsive care.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and program development.
- Transport clients in personal vehicles as needed to support access and independence.
- Provide backup support for other CUPS nursing roles as required.

Community Engagement

- Build collaborative relationships within CUPS and with external agency partners.
- Participate in committees, forums, and cross-sector initiatives to expand impact.
- Support student learning and community awareness of CUPS’ work and mission.

What You Bring

- 3–5 years’ experience in a nursing role
- Strong clinical and physical assessment skills including experience with mental health assessments




- Experience supporting individuals facing homelessness, poverty, addiction, or mental health challenges
- Proven critical thinking, independent decision-making, and trauma-informed care approach
- Ability to navigate community systems and resources
- Confidence working alone in varied settings

Employment Requirements

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active registration and practice permit with CLPNA
- Current First Aid & CPR certification
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
- Confirmation of active nursing practice permit

Work Conditions

- Exposure to trauma and emotionally complex cases
- Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and stressful situations
- Regular walking, standing, lifting (min 35 lb), and client mobility support
- Use of computers and manual dexterity for clinical procedures
