PROFILE

Logistics specialists are responsible for the daily transfer of consumable packaging to the plant and for finished products from the plant to storage for shipment and for all aspects of preparation and loading of products for conveyance to ASL customers. They are to maintain accurate inventory placement of products.

RELATIONSHIPS

Logistics specialists report to the Warehouse Supervisor and Procurement & Logistics Manager. Internal contacts include the Plant Manager, engineering, maintenance, production personnel, as well as corporate personnel. External contacts include delivery drivers and truck drivers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Ensure finished products are stacked, labelled, strapped and loaded in such a way as to eliminate risk of damage while in conveyance.

· Ensure proper inventory counts and product storage.

· Ensure raw material is delivered in a timely fashion for production purposes.

· Operate mobile equipment, including forklift and pallet jacks, in a safe and proper manner to eliminate risk and properly maintain mobile equipment.

· Assist in all aspects of shipping/receiving including monthly consumables and inventory counts.





· Preparation of all products for the purpose of shipping, including the stacking, wrapping, strapping, and loading of products onto containers and trailers.

· Raise near misses and participate in accident investigations.

· Support housekeeping and 6S.

· Shipping/receiving personnel must demonstrate safe operation and care when using any/all mobile equipment.

· Support the company’s vision and policies regarding Health and Safety, Corporate Culture, Environmental Management and 6S by displaying the appropriate behaviours toward meeting the company’s objectives in these areas.

· Perform other work assignments and projects as required.

EDUCATION/COMPETENCIES

· Grade 12 or Community college diploma

· Courses and/or seminars relating to shipping and receiving would be considered an asset

· Shipping/receiving personnel must possess a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license

SKILLS

· Computer literacy is mandatory as well as excellent written/verbal communication skills.

· Shipping/receiving personnel will ensure the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, consumable items, and finished products throughout the facility & will maintain areas of responsibility in a safe and organized manner.

· Forklift training/knowledge is considered an asset.

· TDG (training provided).
