Wage: $36.00 per hour

Work Schedule: 40–60 hours per week, depending on workload and routes

About the Position

EDMSTARS TRUCKING LTD. is seeking reliable and safety-focused Long Haul Flatbed Truck Drivers to transport freight across Canada and the United States.

The successful candidate will operate tractor-trailer combinations equipped with flatbed trailers and will be responsible for the safe transportation, securement, inspection, and delivery of cargo.

This position involves long-distance and cross-border travel, extended periods away from home, overnight stays, and handling of freight and cargo securement equipment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Operate and drive tractor-trailer combinations with flatbed trailers over long-distance, provincial, interprovincial, and international routes.
- Transport freight safely and efficiently between pickup and delivery locations.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck, trailer, tires, brakes, lights, and other equipment.
- Secure cargo properly using chains, straps, binders, tarps, and other appropriate cargo-securement equipment.
- Tarp and untarp loads when required and ensure cargo remains properly protected during transportation.
- Verify cargo, shipping documents, bills of lading, permits, and other transportation documents.
- Plan and follow assigned routes while complying with applicable highway, safety, weight, dimension, and permit requirements.
- Obtain and carry required permits and documentation for oversize or overweight loads when applicable.
- Maintain accurate records of cargo, mileage, fuel consumption, hours of service, inspections, and other required information.
- Communicate with dispatchers, customers, shippers, receivers, and other drivers regarding pickup and delivery requirements.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable federal, provincial, state,



and transportation regulations.
- Report accidents, delays, mechanical problems, cargo damage, or other incidents promptly to management or dispatch.
- Conduct or assist with minor roadside repairs when necessary and safe to do so.
- Load and unload freight or assist with loading and unloading when required.
- Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of the truck and trailer.
- Complete border-crossing and customs documentation for international shipments when required.
- May transport dangerous goods when properly trained and certified.
- May operate as part of a team or convoy when required.

Employment Requirements

- Completion of secondary school is normally required.
- Valid Class 1/A commercial driver's licence or equivalent required for operating tractor-trailer combinations.
- Valid Air Brake (Q) endorsement required where applicable.
- Valid driver's abstract and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to legally travel within Canada and the United States.
- Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods and stay overnight away from home.
- Ability to safely perform cargo securement, tarping, and other flatbed-related duties.
- Ability to communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other personnel.
- Ability to complete required transportation and safety documentation.
- TDG certification may be required when transporting dangerous goods.
- Additional training or certifications may be required depending on the type of cargo and routes assigned.

Canadian Job Bank identifies a Class 1/A licence as required for long-combination vehicles and an air-brake endorsement for vehicles equipped with air brakes.

Experience

Previous commercial truck-driving experience is an asset. Experience with flatbed trailers, cargo securement,



tarping, oversize/overweight loads, and cross-border transportation is considered an asset.

- Skilled and courteous attitude toward customers, shippers, receivers, and other road users.

Working Conditions

- Long-distance and cross-border driving.

- Outdoor work during loading, unloading, tarping, and cargo securement.
- Exposure to varying weather and road conditions.
- Physical work involving cargo securement equipment and loads.
- Work may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on operational requirements.

Long-haul truck driving commonly involves more than 40 hours per week, long-distance routes, cargo documentation, inspections, cargo securement, and communication with dispatch.

Compensation and Benefits

- $36.00 per hour
