Maintenance Associate
Location: Whistler, BC
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Pay: $30-32 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Associate to join our team in Whistler on a permanent, full-time basis.
We are specifically looking for someone who is interested in building a long-term career with our team. This is a permanent position and is not intended for seasonal or short-term employment.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in hotel maintenance or hospitality facilities and understand the unique demands of maintaining a guest-focused property. You should be comfortable working independently, responding to a variety of maintenance issues, and ensuring that guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and building systems remain safe and fully operational.
This is a hands-on role with a wide range of responsibilities. Every day can be different, and the successful candidate will need to be comfortable moving between preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, guest requests, and unexpected operational issues.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance & Repairs
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance throughout the property
- Respond to maintenance requests and complete work orders efficiently
- Perform general repairs and upkeep, including drywall, tile, doors, locks, fixtures, drapes, and other property components
- Troubleshoot and address basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues
- Inspect guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and building systems
- Identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems
- Keep maintenance areas, equipment, and workspaces clean and organized
- Assist with exterior property maintenance as required
- Perform snow removal, salting, and winter maintenance when necessary
- Carry out regular hot tub inspections and water-quality testing in accordance with safety procedures
Guest & Hotel Support
- Respond professionally and promptly to guest maintenance requests
- Enter guest rooms to complete repairs and maintenance when required
- Assist guests with basic in-room technology and equipment issues
- Ensure guest rooms and public areas are safe, functional, and well maintained
- Minimize disruption to guests while completing maintenance work
- Communicate professionally with guests, colleagues, contractors, and suppliers
Safety & Security
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures
- Use tools, equipment, chemicals, and personal protective equipment correctly
- Conduct routine safety and equipment inspections
- Identify and report hazards promptly
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and property incidents as required
- Follow established emergency and fire safety procedures
- Complete incident and maintenance documentation accurately
- Support property security and loss-prevention procedures
Communication & Administration
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance work
- Complete and follow up on work orders
- Communicate outstanding maintenance issues to management
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and service providers when required
- Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and report when materials need to be ordered
- Work closely with Housekeeping, Guest Services, Management, and other departments
- Prioritize tasks according to urgency and operational needs
What We're Looking For The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in hotel maintenance or a similar hospitality environment.
Required / Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in hotel maintenance, resort maintenance, or hospitality facilities
- Strong understanding of the day-to-day maintenance requirements of a hotel or guest accommodation property
- General knowledge of building maintenance and repairs
- Experience with plumbing,
electrical, carpentry, HVAC, or other trades is a strong asset
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to identify issues and determine appropriate solutions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple requests
- Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
- Professional communication and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to interact appropriately with guests while carrying out maintenance work
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical, hands-on work for extended periods
