Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team! Required Qualifications

- 3–5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in woodworking, furniture, cabinet, millwork, or automated manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience maintaining and repairing industrial woodworking machinery, including:
- CNC routers and machining centres
- Panel saws
- Moulders
- Optimizing/crosscut saws
- Edge banders
- Sanders
- Material handling and conveyor systems
- Ability to diagnose mechanical problems involving:
- Bearings
- Gearboxes
- Motors
- Belts and pulleys
- Chains and sprockets
- Linear guides
- Ball screws
- Spindles
- Servo-driven mechanisms

Electrical Knowledge

- Good understanding of industrial electrical systems.
- Comfortable working around 120V, 208V, 240V, 480V, 575/600V industrial equipment as applicable.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical problems using a multimeter.
- Able to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Familiar with:
- Three-phase motors
- Motor starters
- Contactors
- Relays
- Overloads
- Proximity sensors
- Photoelectric sensors
- Limit switches

- Servo motors and servo drives
- Able to identify electrical faults and determine when a licensed electrician is required.

CNC and Automation

- Experience troubleshooting CNC-controlled industrial machinery.
- Basic understanding of:
- CNC controllers
- PLC-controlled equipment
- Servo systems
- Sensors
- Machine alarms and fault codes
- Industrial networks and communication systems
- Ability to use machine diagnostic screens to determine the source of equipment faults.
- Comfortable working with manufacturers or remote service technicians to troubleshoot CNC equipment.
- Basic computer skills for machine software, maintenance records, manuals, and remote support.

Pneumatics





- Strong understanding of industrial pneumatic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair:
- Air cylinders
- Solenoid valves
- Regulators
- Filters
- Lubricators
- Air lines and fittings
- Pressure switches
- Vacuum systems
- Able to read basic pneumatic diagrams.
- Able to locate and repair compressed-air leaks.

Compressed Air Systems

- Familiarity with industrial air compressors and compressed-air systems.
- Understanding of:
- Rotary screw compressors
- Air dryers
- Receiver tanks
- Condensate drains
- Filters
- Pressure regulators
- Compressor maintenance schedules
- Ability to perform routine maintenance such as filter changes, belt inspections, leak detection, and system inspections.

Dust Collection Systems

- Experience maintaining industrial woodworking dust collection systems.
- Understanding of:
- Dust collectors
- Fans and blowers
- Ductwork
- Blast gates
- Filters and filter cleaning systems
- Rotary airlocks
- Dust bins and material handling systems
- Awareness of combustible wood-dust hazards and proper housekeeping requirements.

Preventive Maintenance

- Able to develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules.
- Perform:
- Lubrication
- Bearing inspections
- Belt and chain adjustment
- Filter replacement
- Machine cleaning
- Alignment checks
- Air leak inspections
- Electrical cabinet inspections
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Track recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions.

Fabrication and General Repair

- Comfortable using common maintenance and fabrication equipment, including:
- Drill press
- Grinder
- Saw
- Hand and power tools
- Bearing pullers
- Torque wrenches
- Precision measuring tools
- Basic welding and metal fabrication ability is an asset.
- Ability to fabricate brackets, guards, mounts, and simple replacement components when required.

Technical Skills

- Able to read:
- Machine manuals
- Mechanical drawings
- Electrical schematics
- Pneumatic diagrams
- Parts diagrams
- Comfortable measuring accurately with:
- Calipers
- Micrometers
- Dial indicators
- Feeler gauges
- Good understanding of machine alignment, tolerances, and precision setup.

Safety





- Strong knowledge of industrial safety procedures.
- Thorough understanding of lockout/tagout procedures.
- Comfortable working safely around high-speed rotating machinery.
- Knowledge of machine guarding and safety interlocks.
- Understanding of compressed-air, electrical, mechanical, and stored-energy hazards.
- Awareness of combustible dust and fire hazards associated with woodworking facilities.

Personal Qualifications

- Strong troubleshooting ability and logical problem-solving skills.
- Able to determine whether a problem is mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, software-related, or operator-related.
- Able to work independently without constant supervision.
- Organized and capable of prioritizing production-critical repairs.
- Comfortable dealing directly with machine manufacturers and technical support.
- Willing to learn unfamiliar equipment.
- Valuable communication skills with machine operators, supervisors, electricians, and outside service technicians.
- Able to document problems and repairs clearly.

Preferred Qualifications Any of the following would be considered strong assets:

- Industrial Millwright certification or equivalent experience.
- Industrial Electrician experience or electrical apprenticeship/training.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting.
- Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, B&R;, Fanuc, or similar industrial control systems.
- Experience with CNC woodworking equipment from manufacturers such as Weinig, Homag, Biesse, SCM, Selco, Weeke, Holzma, CR Onsrud, or similar.
- Experience working in a highly automated manufacturing facility.

Ideal Candidate The ideal person is a hands-on industrial maintenance technician/millwright who understands modern CNC machinery. They do not necessarily need to be a licensed electrician, but they should understand industrial electrical systems well enough to safely diagnose faults, replace common components where permitted, and clearly identify when an electrician or specialized CNC technician is required. They should be equally comfortable fixing a seized bearing on a moulder, diagnosing a sensor fault on a CNC, repairing an air cylinder, troubleshooting a VFD fault, servicing an air compressor, or finding why a dust collection system has lost suction.

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
