Shape the future of geoscience in Canada's North ITI is seeking two exceptional geoscience leaders to join the Northwest Territories Geological Survey (NTGS) in Yellowknife:

Manager, Mineral Deposits

Manager, Mapping and Collections

Reporting to the Director of the NTGS, these senior leadership roles offer a rare opportunity to help advance geoscience knowledge across one of the world's most geologically fascinating and resource-rich regions. Each Manager leads a team of professional geoscientists and enjoys significant autonomy in shaping scientific programs, designing innovative projects, directing field operations, and stewarding critical geoscience data.

These positions combine scientific excellence with leadership, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and oversight of exciting field programs conducted across the Northwest Territories.

Manager, Mineral Deposits

Lead cutting-edge research and data synthesis programs focused on mineral deposits, industrial minerals, and the geological framework beneath the NWT. Your work will help drive mineral exploration, inform critical mineral strategies, support community planning, and contribute to responsible resource development across the territory.

Manager, Mapping and Collections

Lead foundational geological mapping, data acquisition, and geological collections programs that support mineral, energy, and water resource development. Your team's work will also contribute to land-use planning, natural hazard assessment, climate change research, and the stewardship of the territory's extensive drill-core collections.

What You'll Do

As a member of the NTGS leadership team, you'll have the opportunity to:

- Lead innovative geoscience programs, research projects, budgets, partnerships, and remote field operations.
- Inspire, mentor,



and develop a talented team of professional geoscientists.
- Oversee the production and release of high-quality maps, datasets, reports, and scientific publications.
- Provide strategic geoscience expertise to government, regulators, Indigenous Governments and Organizations, industry, and research partners.
- Support mineral resource legislation, regulatory processes, land-use planning initiatives, and responsible resource development.
- Represent the NTGS at scientific conferences, regulatory forums, and intergovernmental tables.
- Help shape the future understanding and sustainable development of the Northwest Territories' geological resources.

Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:

A Master of Science degree with a specialization in bedrock geology or a related field, and five years of work experience in industry, academia or a government agency in a related capacity, including at least one year of supervisory experience.

The incumbent must be eligible for professional registration in the NWT and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG).

Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
