The Manager, Procurement is accountable for leading procurement activities across CANARIE and plays a key role in supporting responsible, transparent, and effective purchasing decisions. Working closely with teams across the organization, this role helps ensure procurement practices align with CANARIE’s Procurement Policy
This is a full time, term position through December 2027 and is intended to provide coverage during a maternity leave. The role reports to CANARIE’s Senior Director, Finance and Operations.
The salary range for this role is between $125,000 to $162,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with teams across CANARIE to lead complex procurement initiatives, from planning and sourcing through to contract award, while supporting responsible, transparent, and effective purchasing decisions.
- Procure goods and services, including technical solutions, hardware, software, professional services, and corporate services.
- Prepare and issue procurement documents, including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Manage and evolve CANARIE’s procurement policy processes and third-party risk management practices.
- Manage vendor relationships, contract renewals, and negotiations
- Develop procurement reporting, including metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve procurement processes, tools, and templates to make procurement easier, clearer, and more efficient for teams across CANARIE.
- Provide procurement advice that supports value for money, ethical practices, and CANARIE’s objectives.
- Travel may occasionally be required.
- Other related duties and responsibilities, as required.

What You Bring
Education and Experience
- College diploma or university degree in Business or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive procurement experience
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation preferred
- Experience with technology vendors is desirable
Skills
- Ability to act as a trusted advisor, understand needs, identify risks, and co-develop procurement strategies
- Excellent relationship management and customer service focused
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple procurement initiatives, deadlines, and priorities
- Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures
- Ability to develop procurement reporting and KPls
- Knowledge of third-party risk management practices and ethical procurement
Technical Proficiencies
- Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Working knowledge of ERP applications and procurement platforms
