Manufacturing Shop Operations Manager – Edmonton, AB Provides manufacturing leadership for small or medium size plant, shift or department. Manages multiple shifts of an assembly line, fabrication or machining operation.
Establish Clear Performance Metrics: Foster a Culture of Motivation and Accountability: Set expectations and inspire teams to meet and exceed targets, cultivating a high-performance environment. Serve as a vital link between customers, suppliers, shop floor teams, and internal staff, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
Lead Strategic Planning and Forecasting: Guide the development of the annual operating plan and forecasts, aligning manufacturing capabilities with business objectives.
Develop and Empower Talent: Through coaching and goal setting, help employees grow in their roles, supporting their training, performance, and career development.
Champion Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation, driving sustainable improvements in manufacturing efficiency.
Ensure Customer Satisfaction Through Operational
Reliability: Leadership will directly impact the quality and timeliness of product delivery, strengthening customer trust and loyalty.
Required Skills & Qualities Bias for Action: Tackle challenges with urgency, energy, and enthusiasm—especially in fast‑paced or uncertain situations.
Strong Collaboration & Communication: Work across departments, union partners, technical teams, and stakeholders with clear, audience‑tailored communication.
Strategic Planning & Execution: Lead the annual operating plan, forecasts, and production planning; Operational & Organizational Savvy: Navigate complex systems, policies, and relationships, especially in a unionized environment.
Commitment to Safety & Continuous Improvement: Champion health and safety initiatives, lead process improvements to reduce waste, improve quality. Customer-Focused Mindset: Manage delivery timelines, support rebuilds, and resolve critical customer issues with precision and responsiveness. Degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field.
