- Pay Rate: C$70.00–C$85.00 / Hour (CAD)

Job Summary This is a one-year special assignment designed to help commercialize a new partnership with a Clover payment platform and propel the organization into the top tier of Canadian acquirers. A strong commercialization team is already in place delivering branding, digital updates, sales enablement materials, and launch assets — what is needed now is something different: a catalyst.
The Marketing Manager – Special Assignment Commercialization will be responsible for identifying and delivering bold, high-impact, low-cost initiatives that dramatically increase awareness, adoption, and sales momentum for the merchant offering. This role is designed to augment an established commercialization team with breakout thinking and practical execution. The mandate: generate measurable results that are creative, scalable, and unforgettable.
The Canadian payments landscape is competitive and evolving rapidly. The partnership with Clover represents a significant opportunity to expand the merchant offering and redefine how small and mid-sized businesses experience payments. This one-year assignment is an opportunity to influence a national product commercialization strategy, deliver outsized impact in a defined timeframe, build executive visibility, and leave a measurable legacy.

Key Responsibilities
- Identify unconventional but executable commercialization opportunities that accelerate growth
- Develop initiatives that create viral momentum, word-of-mouth advocacy, or meaningful differentiation in-market
- Create tools, campaigns, or experiences that make it dramatically easier for Sales to win
- Translate bold ideas into business cases with measurable KPIs and ROI
- Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, and executive stakeholders to align, secure approvals, and execute
- Work within governance and funding frameworks while creatively maximizing impact
- Track, measure, and report results — learning fast and iterating intelligently
- Generate ideas, develop marketing/product concepts, and orchestrate execution across teams
- Work with existing Product Managers and coordinate with commercialization, marketing, finance, risk, and other stakeholders
- Use internal marketing teams and external agencies to execute campaigns
- Understand modern social/digital marketing,
know what campaigns/channels could generate reach and engagement, be able to advocate for social media strategies, and work with internal marketing teams and third-party agencies for execution
- Be a big-idea/ideation person who can think outside the box
- Take an idea from concept → strategy → orchestration → execution
- Challenge traditional corporate/bank marketing approaches
- Demonstrate the ability to reinvent a product, brand, or marketing approach and move the needle
- Be comfortable with ambiguity and a white canvas
- Understand modern marketing channels, particularly social media, digital, and unconventional/guerrilla marketing
- Have the ability to tell a compelling story and sell that story internally to a large, traditional organization
- Be creative but also understand analytics/business outcomes

Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Marketing, Growth, Innovation, or Commercialization
- Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable commercial impact
- Proven transformational or disruptive marketing experience
- Product/brand marketing experience where the candidate changed the way a product was positioned or marketed
- Experience with companies/brands known for creative marketing or innovation
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience in retail payments or merchant acquiring
- Experience with consumer-oriented or less technical industries demonstrating creativity
- Experience in a field other than highly process-driven corporate marketing or engineering/technical organizations
Education Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in Marketing or a related field preferred; arts/creative backgrounds are also considered attractive
- Marketing degree is not mandatory — the hiring manager is willing to consider candidates without traditional marketing credentials and places demonstrated creativity and ability to execute ideas above formal credentials
- No IT, mathematics, or engineering degree background
Work Environment / Physical Requirements
- Hybrid work arrangement: Wednesday and Friday in office (2 days/week)
- Approximately 70% of time spent in meetings initially, reducing to less than 50% within one month
- Internal collaboration initially; external collaboration once approvals are obtained
- No access to customer data
- Interview process: 2 rounds — Round 1 virtual, Round 2 in person; shortlisted candidates may receive a homework/case assignment
