Our client is a leading provider of custom‑engineered process‑equipment systems used across biotech, pharmaceutical, food, beverage, personal care and other advanced manufacturing sectors. They design, build, test and commission stainless‑steel structures, pressure equipment and process‑piping systems for high‑performance production environments.

This role is ideal for a mechanical engineer who enjoys applying engineering fundamentals to real equipment challenges, producing fabrication‑ready designs, and working closely with designers, fabricators and project teams.

The Opportunity

As a Mechanical Engineer , you will own the mechanical design of custom process equipment — including stainless‑steel structures, pressure vessels and process‑piping systems. You’ll complete calculations, establish design requirements, review models and drawings, and prepare technical documentation required for fabrication, regulatory review and project delivery.

You’ll collaborate with process engineers, mechanical designers, project managers, fabrication leads and skilled trades in a hands‑on environment where practical, buildable design is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Stainless‑Steel Structures & Equipment Design

- Design stainless‑steel skids, frames, platforms, supports and welded assemblies.
- Determine design loads including equipment, piping, operating, transportation, lifting, wind, seismic and maintenance.
- Complete strength, stability, deflection, connection and weld calculations.
- Develop criteria and details considering stainless‑steel behaviour, sanitary requirements,

fabrication methods and distortion control.
- Use hand calculations and finite‑element analysis where appropriate.

Pressure‑Vessel Design

- Complete mechanical design of pressure vessels and components to applicable codes.
- Perform calculations for shells, heads, nozzles, reinforcement, flanges, supports and external loads.
- Review vessel specifications, drawings, materials, welding requirements and inspection criteria.
- Prepare design‑registration packages and support CRN submissions when required.
- Review vendor designs and resolve technical issues with suppliers and approval authorities.

Piping Design & Analysis

- Design sanitary and industrial process‑piping systems from P&IDs; and project requirements.
- Define materials, thicknesses, design pressure/temperature, flexibility and support strategy.
- Perform or direct piping‑stress analysis including thermal expansion, sustained loads, occasional loads, support reactions and nozzle loads.
- Design or review pipe supports, guides, anchors and specialty connections.
- Review 3D piping models for code compliance, constructability, accessibility, drainage and installation.

Design Integration & Fabrication Support

- Provide technical direction to designers and review models,

drawings and fabrication details.
- Coordinate mechanical requirements with process, automation and electrical design.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews.
- Support fabrication and assembly, resolve technical questions and manage engineering changes.
- Participate in testing, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting at shop and client sites.

What You Bring

- Degree in Mechanical Engineering .
- P.Eng registration in Ontario or eligibility.
- Experience designing stainless‑steel structures, pressure vessels or process‑piping systems.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, CSA B51 and related codes.
- Ability to produce transparent, reviewable engineering calculations and documentation.
- Experience with FEA or piping‑stress analysis software is an asset.
- Practical understanding of stainless‑steel fabrication, welding, inspection and assembly.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients, vendors and trades.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites when required.

What’s Offered $90,000–$110,000 + benefits + RRSP matching
