** This position reports into our Corporate Mechanical Engineering department. This position is well suited to a recent graduate with a diploma/degree in Engineering who has a passion for quality!
Job Summary:
The Mechanical Inspector is a member of the Mechanical Engineering team who is responsible for conducting inspections at various stages of manufacturing for emissions control reactors. This role will participate in a team environment for continuous improvement initiatives focused on mechanical design principles to support QC processes and overall quality management systems. This position reports out of Safety Power’s corporate engineering team and will be primarily stationed out of the Burlington manufacturing facility, with occasional travel to other facilities as business needs require.
Initial training will be at head office in Mississauga prior to relocating to Burlington.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections of SCR systems including wiring to identify and resolve quality issues and ensure compliance to required technical specifications.
- Ensure manufacturing facilities maintain compliance with quality management policies of Safety Power.
- Collaborate with cross-function teams to address quality concerns, resolve non-conformance issues, and implement long-term solutions.
- Maintain and update process FMEA
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) and provided related assistance to the fabrication shops as required.
- Analyze and report quality data to Plant Managers to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop mechanical fabrication drawings for SCR systems using SolidWorks.
- Develop CAD drawings for insulation and wiring layouts.
- Providing ISO9001 support
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a minimum of a two-year diploma program from an academic institution accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to take ownership of responsibilities and work with others.
- Excellent working knowledge of metal fabrication, drawings and specifications.
- Excellent understanding of CAD (2D&3D aptitude); SolidWorks; mechanical design for manufacturing.
- Proficient computer skills in file management and organisation; Excel data reporting; Word and PowerPoint reports and Outlook/Teams communications.
- Knowledge in ISO quality management systems or prior audit experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to solve problems during an inspection.
- Access to a vehicle and have a valid Ontario driver’s license.
Job Demands/Working Conditions:
- Production/manufacturing environment and office setting.
- Requirement to stand and walk, in addition to sitting throughout shift.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Occasionally required to; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise and vibration levels.
- Required to wear PPE (safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs are required). Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation, for which masks are available.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
