About the Project The Connect 6ix project is a consortium-led contract responsible for delivering the Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) package for the Ontario Line — a new 15.6 km rapid transit subway running across Toronto. This includes the trains, signaling, communications systems, and the operations and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate and maintain the line for 30 years. https://connect6ix.ca/
The NGE adventure The successful candidate will report directly to the Quality Supervisor. They will be responsible for, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Adherence to Quality, Safety, and Environmental guidelines:
- Comply with general safety guidelines (including responsible driving, evacuation procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment, etc.).
- Demonstrate a preventive approach and shared vigilance for personal safety and the safety of others, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Follow procedures related to job tasks and actively participate in continuous improvement efforts.
- Adhere to environmental protection guidelines and promptly report any environmental issues.
Ensure Compliance with Quality Assurance and Quality Control Regulations:
- Review QA/QC sampling, testing of construction materials for acceptance and conformance with specifications and standards.
- Participate in- house audit, performed supplier audit, maintained various quality submittals of subs, including various quality management plans & processes, collected QA deliverables, compiled individual reports, and maintained monthly KPI.
- Ensure the implementation of ISO 9001 requirements in the field.
- Assists with the preparation and verification of various technical reports, including pre- and post- inspection.
- Assists with implementation and preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for all construction activities.
- Review and ensuring compliance with project standards and specifications.
- Assists with the implementation and maintenance of quality programs as required.
Construction and Field Operations Support:
- Performs on- site quality inspections in accordance with project requirements.
- Assist with document tracking, i.e. rebar inspections, concrete placement, compaction reports, etc. with team members and stakeholders.
- Completes all associated documentation and forms for individual inspection.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of a cost of quality tracking system.
- Assisting with the tracking of non-conformance reports and corrective/ preventative action requests.
Process Improvement and Collaboration:
- Collaborates with the project team to determine approaches & methods to improve the overall quality of work.
- Identifies and reports work that doesn’t meet the quality requirements.
- Inspects work in progress and/or completed to determine and ensure that the work complies with the standards and specifications.
- Support to the achievement of quality field delivery in keeping with client’s established goals and processes.
- Assist with the tracking of non-conformance reports and corrective/ preventative action requests.
- Participate and support audits of the subcontractor quality and construction process.
The ideal profile For this position, the ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Essential:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or related disciplines, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Bridge, Highway, Buildings or other major Infrastructure project construction.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in quality assurance role.
- Compute literate in MS Office (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of ISO 9001.
Desirable:
- Work experience in the construction/railway industry.
- Quality certification is an asset.
- Familiar with inspection techniques related to the construction industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
