In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director, the Administrative Lead is responsible for leading, supervising and direction of the day-to-day activities of the designated administrative team members, as well as performing the administrative functions of the team.

The Administrative

Lead works closely with clinical operations and leaders, providing consultation, advice and documentation such as complex statistical reports and summary briefings.

Lead also participates in Island Health leadership meetings and receives access to confidential knowledge as it relates to program development and operational changes.

Lead provides a variety of documentation such as written correspondence, and complex statistical reports and charts to managers, directors and Executive.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a diploma in a related discipline such as Public or Business Administration.



A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a large complex organization, including supervision of unionized employees, financial and budgetary experience.

Skills And Abilities

- Demonstrated organization, leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and team-building skills in complex and highly changeable situations within a team environment.
- Ability to set and maintain priorities, work under pressure and be results oriented.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to integrate administrative, clinical, professional and operational aspects of programs and initiatives in an effective and productive manner
- Knowledge of relevant information systems to support the development of applications across MHSU.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize and adopt a variety of software and systems including word processing, spreadsheet, database, web administration, staff scheduling, electronic mail, desktop publishing and presentation development.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of expert professional, clinical, technical, business and administrative staff.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
