Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Full-Time | Windsor, Ontario | In Person

Windsor Heart Institute (WHI) is seeking skilled and patient-focused Nuclear Medicine Technologists to join our cardiac imaging team. The successful candidate will prepare and support patients, acquire and process high-quality cardiac nuclear medicine studies in accordance with WHI protocols, and maintain rigorous standards for radiation safety, quality control, documentation, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

· Confirm patient identity, review relevant history, assess readiness for the procedure, explain examinations, answer questions, and obtain or verify required documentation and consent.

· Perform nuclear medicine diagnostic procedures and cardiac imaging studies in accordance with authorized WHI protocols, professional standards, and applicable legislation and safety requirements.

· Acquire, process, analyze, and appropriately manipulate imaging data; evaluate technical quality and take corrective action or escalate concerns when required.

· Apply the ALARA principle to minimize radiation exposure to patients, colleagues, visitors, and self.

· Receive, store, prepare, handle, administer or dispense radiopharmaceuticals within the individual’s authorized scope and WHI procedures; maintain accurate inventory, dose, waste, and administration records.

· Receive and transport Transportation of Dangerous Goods Class 7 materials in accordance with training, authorization, and established procedures.

· Complete and document daily, weekly, and scheduled quality-control testing of imaging and related equipment; identify and promptly report anomalies, failures, or safety concerns.





· Follow infection-prevention, emergency-response, privacy, documentation, and patient-identification practices.

· Collaborate with physicians, nurses, technologists, administrative staff, and referring teams to support timely, coordinated patient care.

· Maintain complete and accurate records in the electronic medical record and other clinical systems.

· Participate in continuing education, competency activities, quality-improvement initiatives, audits, and required safety training.

· Perform other related duties within professional scope, competence, and operational requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

· Successful completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.

· Current certificate of registration in the nuclear medicine specialty with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO), in good standing and without restrictions that prevent performance of the role.

· CAMRT certification and/or membership, where required by WHI.

· Current training or certification required for assigned duties, including radiation safety and Transportation of Dangerous Goods, or willingness and ability to complete WHI-required training before performing those duties.

· Demonstrated commitment to patient safety,



skilled standards, confidentiality, and continuing competence.

· Strong communication, organization, critical-thinking, and teamwork skills.

· Ability to use electronic medical records and clinical imaging systems; experience with cardiac nuclear medicine is an asset.

Compensation & Benefits

· $52.00 per hour.

· Signing bonus, subject to the terms of a written agreement.

· HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), subject to plan and position eligibility.
