Duties

- Assist with planting, watering, pruning, and transplanting a variety of nursery plants using appropriate gardening techniques
- Operate irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules for different plant species
- Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and trowels to maintain plant beds and prepare soil for planting
- Perform heavy lifting tasks to move soil bags, plants, or equipment safely around the nursery
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by removing debris and organizing tools and materials efficiently
- Support general nursery maintenance including mulching, fertilizing, and pest control measures
- Conduct basic measurements and calculations to assist with plant spacing and growth monitoring
- Clean the crops

- Report signs of insect or disease damage
- Dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs
- Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens
- Clean work area

Qualifications

- Prior experience or interest in horticulture or gardening is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and plant care practices is advantageous
- Mechanical knowledge or familiarity with gardening tools enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively is essential
- Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Basic math skills for measurements, quantities, and record keeping
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn about horticultural practices and nursery operations
