Support and empower Indigenous people as a Housing Worker with ONWA. This full-time contract role focuses on advocating for positive housing solutions for at-risk individuals. In this position, you'll work closely with Indigenous clients aged 16 and older, offering guidance and advocacy to prevent homelessness.
Your experience with mental health and housing systems will enable you to navigate complex issues while providing critical support services. This role emphasizes building relationships and recognizing cultural identities within the community. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients in securing secure housing
- Advocate for individuals within legal and social service frameworks
- Collaborate with existing community service agencies
- Create individualized support plans for clients
- Promote a protected and welcoming community environment Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in relevant fields
- At least three years of applicable work experience
- Knowledge of homelessness and victims’ issues
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
