The Town of Stony Plain is the local government authority responsible for planning and delivering municipal services in Stony Plain, a Canadian urban community of approximately 18,000 people on the traditional Indigenous lands of Treaty 6 peoples.

Are you ready to contribute to our community by supporting the maintenance of parks, outdoor recreation facilities, and trail systems? We are currently recruiting a permanent full time Park Operator. This position will be responsible for the maintenance duties of parks, outdoor recreation facilities and walking trail systems. The Operator I – Parks occasionally provides direction for seasonal staff. This position will assist with other divisions and/or perform other duties as required.

We are seeking a candidate who:

- Possesses knowledge of the Alberta Weed Control Act and related regulations
- Understands the Transportation of Dangerous Goods legislation.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
- Has experience with heavy and light equipment operation.
- Has the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Has knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in routine maintenance, landscaping, and construction tasks.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

- AB Environment Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 6-months)




- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with weed and pest control. Turf maintenance, tree maintenance, snow and ice control, and outdoor ice maintenance
- Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Brake (Q) Endorsement is an asset.
- First Aid Certification is an asset.

Based on a 40-hour work week, the wage for this position will be in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955, current Collective Agreement. Deadline for application submission: September 4, 2026.
