We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will preferably be an IMG or a graduate with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. They should be a quick learner who is comfortable with technology, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The right applicants will be trained alongside experienced ophthalmic assistants.

- This position will be require the candidate to travel between: iCare Medical Centre, 5945 Jeanne D'Arc Blvd S, Orléans, ON K1C 2N1 AND iCare Surgical Centre, 2148 Carling Ave #205, Ottawa, ON K2A 4E2. The assigned location will be communicated one week in advance to allow for adequate planning.
- Bilingual applicants are preferred but it is not required.

Responsibilities

- Complete preoperative and postoperative measurements, offering clear explanations to patients throughout the process.
- Review imaging maps to validate their accuracy.
- provide outstanding customer service and patient care.
- Perform preliminary patient work-up including visual acuity, lensometry, and auto-refraction
- Assist ophthalmologists with patient examinations and minor surgical procedures
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual field testing, and OCT imaging




- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical records systems
- Educate patients on eye care procedures, medications, and post-operative care instructions
- Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Coordinate patient scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed

Experience (preferred)

- Experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry
- Experience in providing customer service in a fast paced, high pressure setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with electronic medical records systems
- Proficiency with Epic/Accuro software is advantageous
