This position is a permanent, casual position to cover the absences (planned and unplanned) of regular staff.

The position for our Derby Reach Regional Park (Langley), Kanaka C reek Regional Park (Maple Ridge), Aldergrove Regional Park (Aldergrove) programs. We are a growing outdoor program that inevitably requires coverage. The hours are anywhere between 8:45-1:15 depending on the program. The age range of children is typically 2.5-5 years old.

You are:

Able to acquire a vulnerable persons criminal record check (charges incurred will be covered by employer after probationary period) and child care first aid certificate

Have access to a vehicle to get yourself to the outdoor program location (public transportation isn't an option)

Enthusiastic and comfortable working outdoors year-round and gear up for inclement weather

Confident with outdoor group management

Confident interacting with children and families

Inclusive and kind - our program celebrates all individuals and creates a safe space for families

Able to manage stress and anxiety when working with groups of children outdoors

Able to encourage/supervise risky play

Adaptable and flexible when it comes to learning and implementing the Kollektive philosophy

Comfortable with receiving feedback and support - we are life-long learners!

Able to take initiative in order to extend/follow children’s interests





Curious and willing to play!

Able to lift 30 lbs

You might:

Have experience working outdoors

Be an Early Childhood Educator/School Age Educator

Have experience implementing children’s programs

Be comfortable with technology/photography

Have random other sweet skills to share!

Responsibilities:

Support a rad, collaborative outdoor program for children between the ages of 2.5-7 years (year round)

Work within a team of 1-3 co-educators

Engage with families to create a warm, positive and safe setting

Take the Kollektive training/orientation in order to guide children in a Rights based and trauma informed way and implement child inspired/teacher lead experiences

Adhere to all policies laid our in the Kollektive Staff Handbook

Participate in monthly staff meetings (typically virtual)

Record and visually document experiences for children and families

Utilize app which stores child information

Utilize and engage on WhatsApp with your team (compensated)

Arrive promptly at designated start times and communicate all absences
