Training will be with the first shift lead - once training is complete you will be running the afternoon second shift.
ABOUT GOOD ROBOT BREWING CO.
At Good Robot, we’re building something bigger than beer.
We’re building a team that shows up for each other, takes ownership, and gets the job done right.
We’re a group of people who believe in:
- Camaraderie – we show up for each other.
- Ownership – no excuses, we solve the problem.
- Good Times & Serious Work – we can work hard and have fun while doing it.
ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for an Assistant Packaging Lead to help lead our second-shift packaging operations at the Beverage Factory.
This is a hands-on working lead role responsible for keeping packaging operations moving safely, efficiently, and to our quality standards during the afternoon and evening shift. You’ll work alongside the Off-Pack Team, coordinate daily priorities, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and make sure there is a clear handoff between shifts.
You won’t just oversee the work; you’ll be on the floor helping get it done.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Execute the daily packaging plan and coordinate priorities for the second-shift Off-Pack Team.
- Set up and verify packaging equipment, materials, and line components before production.
- Coordinate efficient product changeovers and help minimize downtime.
- Monitor product flow, labels, fill levels, seam integrity, case counts, and overall packaging quality.
- Complete production documentation and accurately record production data in Ekos.
- Lead shift huddles, communicate priorities and safety reminders, and provide clear handovers between shifts.
- Act as the first point of contact for Off-Pack Team questions and day-to-day issues during the shift.
- Make on-floor adjustments and troubleshoot minor equipment, material, or workflow issues.
- Ensure cans, labels, paktechs, boxes, lids, and other packaging materials are staged and ready when needed.
- Communicate material shortages, production variances, quality concerns, and equipment issues promptly.
- Complete equipment startup, shutdown, cleaning, and minor maintenance according to SOPs.
- Support the training and coaching of Off-Pack Team Members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and GMP-compliant packaging environment.
- Step into additional Packaging Lead responsibilities when delegated or during absences.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Takes ownership of your work and follows through on commitments.
- Communicates clearly and proactively, especially when handing work between shifts.
- Works well with others and helps teammates succeed.
- Is comfortable providing direction, feedback, and support to others on the floor.
- Pays close attention to detail and takes pride in producing consistent, quality work.
- Approaches problems with curiosity and brings forward solutions.
- Remains calm, adaptable, and solution-focused when production priorities shift.
- Uses systems, SOPs, and processes consistently rather than working around them.
- Values safety, cleanliness, organization, and accountability.
- Enjoys physical, hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to consistently work an afternoon/evening second-shift schedule.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing and production environment.
- Able to remain moving for extended periods throughout the shift and perform repetitive tasks.
- Able to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 25 kg, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Comfortable working around production equipment and in environments that may include noise, wet floors, and temperature fluctuations.
- Able to follow established safety, quality, GMP, and equipment procedures.
- Previous leadership experience
- Basic mechanical aptitude
Nice to have:
- Previous experience in packaging, manufacturing, beverage production, or a similar production workplace.
- Experience coordinating or providing day-to-day direction to a team.
- Familiarity with production equipment, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, or production documentation.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
- A hands-on leadership opportunity within a growing production team.
- The chance to build your skills in packaging operations, equipment, troubleshooting, and team leadership.
- Work that keeps you moving and gives you ownership over the success of your shift.
- A team that values accountability, camaraderie, communication, and getting the job done right.
- Opportunity to continue growing alongside the Beverage Factory.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS Our second shift needs more than someone to keep the line running; it needs someone who can take ownership on the floor and connect the shifts.
When this role is done well:
- The Off-Pack Team knows what needs to happen and has the support to get it done.
- Packaging runs stay safe, efficient, organized, and on quality.
- Problems are identified and addressed before they become bigger problems.
- Materials, equipment, and documentation stay organized and accurate.
- The Packaging Lead has clear visibility into what happened during second shift and what needs attention next.
