Position Title: Parenting Journey Home Visitor

Hours: 40/week

Reports To: Executive Director

Overview The Parenting Journey program supports families facing social, emotional, and familial challenges. Through a holistic, strengths-based approach, the program promotes child/youth well-being, parenting support, family stability, and community connections.

Role Summary The Parenting Journey Home Visitor conducts in-home, centre-based, and community visits/sessions with families. This role uses a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach to build parental and family capacity, support child development, and increase family access to community supports and resources.

Responsibilities include

- Developing supportive relationships with families.
- Facilitating parenting and family support programs.
- Connecting families to resources and services.
- Promoting protective factors and mitigating risks for children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities

- Home Visits: Build relationships, provide resources, support self-sufficiency, and assist with prenatal/postnatal care and healthy home environments.
- Program Facilitation: Plan and lead parenting and family programs, ensuring resources and facilities are available.
- Referrals and Partnerships: Respond to referrals, expand programs, and foster community collaborations.
- Evaluation and Reporting: Track program outcomes, maintain accurate records,



and contribute to organizational evaluations.
- Administration: Manage budgets, submit reports, and ensure compliance with policies and safety standards.
- Career development: Engage in training and community initiatives.

Qualifications

- Education/Experience: Degree/Diploma in Social Work, Social Services, Early Childhood Education or significant experience in providing family support and navigating community services.
- Skills: Strong communication, facilitation, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Other: Valid CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain), reliable transportation, and ability to work flexible hours.

Additional Requirements

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Child Abuse Registry and Police Checks.
- Physical capacity to manage program materials.

General Description The Parenting Journey Home Visitor builds meaningful relationships with families to address child development, parenting, and family management needs. This position uses collaborative goal-setting and planning and requires flexibility, resourcefulness, and commitment to fostering family and community resilience. Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
