Recreationists assess each resident’s strengths, interests and goals to design activities that support independence and well-being. We also adapt activities to meet individual needs so everyone can participate. Therapeutic Recreation services are offered across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesWorks with the Apotex Therapeutic Recreation and Culture & Arts teams to develop and execute therapeutic programsCompletes documentation as requiredAttends interprofessional team meetingsInterviews, orients, supervises and sets expectations with volunteersContributes to interprofessional team and therapeutic recreation professional developmentCoordinates services with other staff/departmentsDevelops and maintains inventory of program suppliesQualificationsCompletion of a two (2) year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent requiredAt least 1 year experience in a Recreationist role or equivalent requiredMember in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (‘TRO’) or Activity Professionals of Ontario (‘APO’) preferredExperience in planning, implementing and evaluating creative recreation preferredExperience in supervision of volunteers preferredExperience with a geriatric population with multiple medical conditions and/or cognitive impairment preferredKnowledge of community resources an assetKnowledge of Jewish culture, Holy Days and festivals are an assetSecond language an asset, i.E. Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian or HungarianExcellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel#J-18808-Ljbffr
