Job Summary

Bell Music Piano Studio is seeking reliable, enthusiastic piano teachers to join our established studio in Chestermere. With an existing clientele and waiting list, we are looking for additional teachers to help us accommodate more students.

Lessons are taught one-on-one in students' homes and are primarily with children and beginners, although there are opportunities to teach intermediate, Royal Conservatory, and adult students as appropriate.

We welcome applications from experienced piano teachers as well as accomplished pianists interested in developing their teaching skills. Mentorship and professional support are available for those who would benefit from them.

Responsibilities

- Provide engaging, one-on-one piano instruction in students' homes.
- Develop students' technique, musicianship, music-reading skills, confidence, and enjoyment of music.
- Select appropriate repertoire and adapt teaching approaches to individual students.
- Help students set and achieve musical goals, including preparation for performances, RCM examinations and theory examinations when appropriate.
- Prepare students for Bell Music's two studio recitals each year. Teachers also perform at recitals and may collaborate with students in duets.
- Encourage effective practice habits and communicate with parents about student progress and goals.
- Build positive, caring and professional relationships with students and their families.
- Represent Bell Music's commitment to providing consistently high-quality musical education.

Qualifications




- Minimum RCM Grade 8 Piano or equivalent musical training and ability.
- Strong piano, music-reading, theory and musicianship skills.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to connect and communicate effectively with children and their families.
- Reliable, professional and organized.
- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel to students' homes within Chestermere.
- Previous piano teaching experience is an asset but is not required.

The ability to teach additional instruments is also an asset. Bell Music is primarily a piano studio, but opportunities to teach other instruments may be available depending on the teacher's qualifications. Schedule & Compensation

Teachers may choose to teach one, two or three consistent evenings per week. Most lessons take place weeknights between approximately 4:00–8:00 p.m.

We are looking for teachers who can commit to their agreed schedule from September through June. Lessons are located within Chestermere, with very little driving required between students.

This is an independent contractor position paying $30–$60 per teaching hour, depending on musical qualifications, teaching experience and the level of mentorship required.



Teachers submit a monthly invoice for lessons taught, which is paid directly by Bell Music.

This allows our teachers to concentrate on teaching and developing their students.

For developing teachers, studio owner Leith Bell brings more than 35 years of piano teaching experience and provides mentorship in areas such as working with different learning styles, student motivation, repertoire selection, goal setting and effective communication with students and parents.

Experienced teachers who do not require mentoring are equally welcome and have the opportunity to bring their own experience and teaching approach to their students.

This position may be particularly well suited to an experienced private teacher looking to add students, a university music student, recent music graduate, skilled musician, or accomplished pianist interested in teaching.
