Civil 3D Drafter / Designer – Pipeline Construction

Location: Spruce Grove, AlbertaPosition: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced Civil 3D Drafter / Designer to support pipeline construction projects. This position will be based in Spruce Grove, Alberta and will work closely with project engineering and construction teams to develop practical, accurate drawings and plans for field execution.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Create and modify Civil 3D corridors and assemblies.
- Develop profiles, alignments, surfaces, cross-sections and grading designs.
- Prepare detailed drawings, layouts and construction plans for field crews.
- Review and interpret engineered drawings, IFC drawings, survey information and project specifications.
- Develop practical field drawings and plans based on engineering information and actual construction requirements.
- Work closely with Project Engineers, Superintendents and field personnel to incorporate field changes and resolve constructability issues.
- Revise and update drawings throughout construction as conditions and designs change.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and other drafting/design requirements as needed.
- Develop 3D models and construction concepts when required.

Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with corridor and assembly design.
- Experience developing profiles, alignments and surfaces.
- Strong general drafting and drawing-development skills.




- Ability to read and understand engineered construction drawings.
- Ability to take engineering information and develop explicit, practical plans that field crews can work from.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and priorities.
- Pipeline, oil and gas, heavy civil or similar construction experience is considered a strong asset.
- SketchUp experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with engineering and field construction personnel.

Work Schedule This is a full-time position based in Spruce Grove, Alberta.

During active projects, the successful applicant will be required to work extended construction schedules, typically 10–12 hours per day, 6 days per week. The applicant must be comfortable working additional hours during busy project periods and supporting field operations as required.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is more than a production drafter. We are looking for someone who understands construction and can take engineered drawings, survey data and field information and turn them into clear, practical construction plans that crews can execute in the field.

Experience working on pipeline construction projects and an understanding of pipeline construction methods, right-of-way requirements, crossings, access, grading and constructability would be highly valued.

Pay: $100,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
