JOB TITLE: METAL POLISHER

ATH Stainless Steel is a custom Metal Fabricator which is looking for a proficient Metal Polishers with a minimum of 5 years experience. We handle mainly Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, and Aluminum.

We have a rapid paced work environment and need someone who can work as a team with the other members of the shop to efficiently complete the work needed.

Pay rate: $25.00 - $30.00/hr Depending on Experience

Primary Responsibilities

- Polish objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools, air tools and power tools as needed.
- Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand tools when needed.
- Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure polishing processes.
- Operate and Maintain equipment involved for the polishing process.
- Remove completed work pieces from equipment or work tables, using hand tools, and place work pieces in containers.
- Select abrasives according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
- Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions and pack them for shipping.
- Mark defects for possible rework
- Record product and processing data on specified forms when needed.
- Assist in minor repair and maintain equipment, objects, or parts, using hand tools.
- Change polishing wheel when needed
- Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices.




- Work under the safety measures of ‘Ontario Health and Safety’ and ‘WHMIS’.

Technical Skills and Work Experience:

- Must be able to properly use quality gages when needed as per the material.
- Must be able to spot defects on work; close visual inspection required
- Good problem solving skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills required
- Ability to quickly detect quality concerns.
- A brief knowledge of Drawing and Manufacturing.
- Able to perform grinding and Deburring as required
- Knowledge about different surface finishes on material

Provided Equipment and Tools:

- Polishing devices, Abrasives, Air tools, Hand polishers, etc.,
- Air pressure nozzles, Safety equipment, Shop uniform.

Authorization Level:

- Able to stop assembly and production when quality related issue(s) are present.

Working Conditions:

- This is a fast paced environment. Work must be accomplished in a timely manner, and/or as per customer requirements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Able to work on weekends and overtime whenever necessary.
- The ability to wear Safety goggles, Steel toed boots, Ear protection and Dust mask.
- Ability to lift weight up to 40lbs.
