About the Role The purpose of the Process Control Engineer is to be responsible for the process control and safeguarding functionality to support safe, reliable and efficient operation of the LNGC facilities in safe and fully sustain in the Operate phase. This includes - controller performance improvement, systematic plant troubleshooting and end to end production and value chain optimization. Culture of continuous improvement as well as technological improvements for performance enhancement for the entire facility will be a differentiator.
Furthermore, the Process Control Engineer is expected to develop hybrid process engineering and process control competencies in LNG with a strong connect to Asset of the future aspirations of LNGC.

You will use your expertise to:
- Continue providing process control services for the LNGC complex to maximize plant safety and reliability. Contribute to process optimization, control, operating procedures, troubleshooting and safeguarding systems of all facilities.
- Contribute to Process Control monitoring program (including KPIs) to identify bad actors and propose solutions to improve process performance. Predict future issues and propose solutions to solve mid/long term issues through proactive monitoring of controller uptimes and plant performance.
- Develop, implement, tune and maintain Advanced Process Control applications for the LNG plant and utilities post performance test run and position advanced systems as the backbone of the end-to-end facility optimization.
- Ensure Process Control Narratives are updated in line with MOCs.
- Leverage skills and technical knowledge to ensure operation within operating envelope, produce within design specifications and maintaining integrity of equipment. Lead application of process safety guidelines to prevent loss of production.
- Solve/troubleshoot problems, investigate incidents and minimize shutdown/start-up durations using process engineering knowledge & expertise. Actively engage with operation teams for the same. Build strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders like Operations, engineering and commercial. Support the 5CRQs team for troubleshooting and increasing plant reliability.
- Closely interact with the laboratory to ensure methods, limits and sample schedule provide the correct feedback for supporting production, engineering and various process test-runs.
- Contribute to development studies and projects related to plant performance improvements using process control techniques. Keep abreast of latest technologies and accordingly develop tools. Drive case for change with the aim of improving train/complex reliability, efficiency, production and environmental performance
- Contribute to Ensure Safe Production especially on safeguarding, proactive and predictive monitoring.
- Act as a Technical Authority for process control in LNGC, supporting MOCs and future expansions like phase 2.
- Act as a Technical Authority for process control in LNGC for the Brownfield Projects including FAT, SAT and commissioning support.
- Optimize processes via all the techniques to improve controller performance. Pay special attention to control loop tests and tuning as well as putting Engineering Training Simulator to test (ETS) and position it as a scenario assessment tool.
- Support the organization to conduct performance tests and assess gaps if any and plan for removal of constraints after steady state is achieved.
- Develop, implement, tune and maintain Procedural Automation for the LNG plant and utilities.
- Review the process control content of plant modifications/changes as well as instrument trip/alarm settings such that plant integrity remains ensured and design objectives are met prior and post-handover from EPC.
- Ensure documents, i.e. control and IPF narratives, system functional design specifications, etc.,
are maintained and as-built comments are accurately kept. Participate in required HSE activities (audits, meetings, etc.) and demonstrate (by example) safe work practices and procedures to the contractors at all times.
To be successful, you will have:
- University degree or equivalent in Control Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical engineering, Applied Physics or Mathematics
- 10+ years of relevant Gas/LNG industry experience with demonstrated skills and relevant competencies in process control.
- Professional Engineer designation or eligible to in BC.
- Led/participated in process control projects (e.g. base layer control improvement programs and advanced process control projects)
- Wider appreciation of Gas/LNG business processes and principles and experience in a Gas/LNG Major Project is an advantage.
- Ability to contribute to decision support and assurance as well as organizing and/or carrying out hands on technical evaluations independently (without supervision).
- Sound systematic approach to technical and multi-disciplinary challenges. Strong analytical abilities having knowledge of engineering tools and simulations etc.
- Able to integrate projects and initiatives while managing inter-cultural sensitivities and leveraging DE&I.;
- Communicate with internal and external interfaces with strong spoken and written communication skills.
This role requires that you:
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
- During Operate: Work an office-hours schedule, approximately 40 hrs./week, 5 days per week, with flexibility to balance off time hours when required.
- Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
- Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, a background check and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
- Know that this role will be expected to be on call on a rotational basis during the year and/or during site specific situations.
- Know that residents in Calgary, will require to fly to site 25% and at times more, per month to support operations. This will require to be away for several nights.
