A full time position is available at Interior Health for a Peer Support Worker 1, focusing on providing essential support to those with severe and persistent mental health needs. The role requires someone who can empathize and relate to clients while promoting harm reduction and self-determination. You will work in various community settings, supporting individuals and integrating your lived experiences and wisdom into your practice.
Key Responsibilities:
• Build authentic relationships based on lived experience
• Collaborate with clients on personalized wellness plans
• Conduct supportive counselling and advocacy
• Assist clients in navigating available resources
• Adjust care strategies according to client needs
Requirements:
• Personal history with mental health or substance use issues
• Strong skills in communication and empathy
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively
