Job Title: Public Affairs Specialist

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Type: Full time, 18-month fixed-term

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Public Affairs Specialist to support the Bank’s public affairs and communications activities, with a focus on strengthening the Bank’s reputation and expanding its external reach. Working closely with the Head of Public Affairs, this role supports digital communications, media and issues monitoring, internal communications, crisis and reputation management, stakeholder engagement, and brand and community events.

The successful candidate will bring strong writing, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to develop high-quality communications materials and manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.

What You Will Do

- Manage and execute content publishing across key digital platforms, including LinkedIn and WeChat, ensuring consistent messaging, strong writing quality, and timely publication.
- Support crisis and reputation management, including regular internal reviews, policy and procedure management, rapid-response communications, message coordination, and internal information tracking.
- Support the planning and execution of brand and community events, including agenda development, vendor coordination, guest communications, on-site support, and post-event reporting.
- Conduct media and issues monitoring by tracking relevant news and social discussions and preparing daily and weekly summaries.
- Draft key messages and other communications materials as required.
- Support internal communications, including drafting and coordinating internal updates, announcements, newsletters, and leadership messages.
- Assist with media management, including preparing briefing notes, media lines, Q&A; materials, and coordinating interview logistics.
- Support external stakeholder engagement, including maintaining contact lists, preparing outreach materials, and coordinating follow-ups with partners and community organizations.

What You Bring to the Table




- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of relevant Canadian experience in Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, or Media Relations, preferably within a regulated or complex organization.
- Proven experience drafting professional communications materials, including announcements, stakeholder messages, key messages, and briefing notes.
- Experience managing digital communications channels, particularly LinkedIn; experience with WeChat is an asset.
- Experience supporting stakeholder engagement initiatives and coordinating outreach and follow-ups.
- Experience supporting event planning and execution, including vendor or partner coordination and logistics.
- Experience supporting issues monitoring and crisis communications is an asset.
- Exceptional English writing and editing skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver executive-ready content within deadlines.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling sensitive or reputation-related matters.
- Strong curiosity and learning agility, with a willingness to learn new communications tools, platforms, and workflows.
- Chinese language proficiency, written and/or spoken, is considered an asset.
- APR or other communications certification is considered an asset but is not required.
