SLI The Sidney Ledson School is seeking a Public Speaking & Debate After-School Instructor to lead a one-hour weekly enrichment class for elementary students.
The program will help students become stronger and more confident communicators through speeches, presentations, persuasive speaking, debate and structured discussion.
Responsibilities
- Lead one 1-hour public speaking and debate class per week
- Teach students how to organize and deliver effective speeches
- Develop presentation and persuasive communication skills
- Introduce age-appropriate debate and argumentation
- Incorporate impromptu speaking and interactive activities
- Give students constructive feedback on their speaking
- Create an encouraging workplace where students are comfortable presenting their ideas
Qualifications
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Background in debate, communications, theatre,
education, law, business or a related area
- Competitive debate, Model UN, public speaking or presentation experience is an asset
- Experience working with children is preferred
- University and graduate students with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
- Robust group management skills
Schedule One 1-hour class per week on a weekday after school. Exact day will be determined based on school programming and instructor availability.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40.00–$50.00 per hour
Expected hours: Approximately 1 hour per week for 8-10 weeks from Fall through early Winter
