POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the protected execution and analysis of quality tests for finished goods, assuring that products meet or exceed customer specifications prior to shipment, ensuring compliance of products and processes to defined requirements. This involves product testing, keeping accurate records of test results, issuing product certificates of analysis, issuing non-conformance reports, providing all defect details to the product development team, auditing processes, investigative testing on customer complaints and development of quality standards.

Quality Assurance

Technicians are also responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment at all times.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Conducts all audits and testing to requirements per published documentation.

· Conducts acceptance testing on raw materials when required, intermediate/first pass products and finished goods per pre-defined schedule or upon request.

o Adheres strictly to postulated test procedures, to minimize variance in test results.

· Provides disposition of finished goods based on test results compared to provided specifications and product trends/history within appropriate databases and ERP.

o Monitors inventory in QA and other specified “statuses” and coordinating with the production team to disposition material in a timely manner.

· Documents all auditing/testing results in the appropriate databases, and files & maintains all physical samples kept as “retains” per requirements. Reviews data and samples to ensure accuracy to requirements.

· Fulfills special requirements for customer/products as defined:

o After reviewing for accuracy, generates finished good Certificate of Analysis (COA) for each completed lot/product and sends to the shipping team. Sends to customer as required, upon shipment of product/lot to the customer.





o Provides properly labeled customer chips to the shipping team, to be sent alongside the product, to the customer.

· Initiates and facilitates the nonconforming product process.

o Properly documents nonconformance details in the appropriate databases and completes the nonconformance procedure as defined in the work instructions o Communicates nonconforming defects and other pertinent information to affected teams.

o Participates in root cause analyses/investigations to prevent future occurrences of any given nonconforming defect.

· Creates & maintains product folders and color & visual standards for all products run in production at request of Quality Assurance Coordinator or designee.

· Conducts pre-defined audits of production processes on established schedule, communicates findings appropriately and participates in resolution as needed.

· Housekeeping duties including but not limited to keeping workstations, lab equipment and lab storage areas clean and orderly, emptying scrap tubs/bins, cleaning up purge patties and emptying trash/recycle, taking stock of consumable lab supplies and communicating this information to the Quality Assurance Coordinator, to plan for replenishment.

SCOPE AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

Routine work for which general instructions are provided. Some analysis required in decision making. All activities are governed by policies and procedures, but some freedom exists for selecting action. All difficult or unusual situations are referred to the Quality Assurance Coordinator for resolution.

Relationships

Works directly with Production and other Laboratory employees. Communicates with Shipping,



Product Development and Customer Service as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1-3 years specialized education/training required, equivalent to college diploma/degree or trade apprenticeship. Applies concepts from a discipline or field of study. Within field of specialization, is capable of solving problems of an average nature.

· College Diploma in Chemical, Quality or Manufacturing Technology

· Requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience

· One (1) year relevant experience in the pigment or plastics industry

· Good colour perception and ability to analyze samples.
