Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented QC Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our PVC compounds through rigorous inspection, data collection, and analysis. Your proactive approach will help maintain high standards of quality management, support manufacturing processes, and uphold our commitment to excellence in quality assurance.
This position is for a STEADY NIGHT SHIFT (11pm-7am). The candidate must be able to reliably commute to work. Night Shift also comes with a Premium of + $1.00/hour
Responsibilities:
- Perform extrusion and document results using lab extruder on rigid and flexible PVC compounds
- Perform milling and document results using Mill on rigid PVC compounds
- Perform fusion and document results using Torque Rheometer on rigid PVC compounds
- Plan and setup extruder dies as per product specification requirement and report results
- Perform and document all other QA testing established in the lab as per the implemented standard
- Perform and document resin inspections as needed
- Perform and document any other raw material inspections as needed
- Perform and document in process inspections
- Verify and file all the incoming raw material certifications
- Produce and send compound certificates to our customers
- Coordinate, guide and oversee product changeovers in Production of PVC compounds in specified pellets and powder form
- Provide approvals on product changeovers to Production
- Coordinate new product launches, monitor its performance and provide results to other departments
- Determine and record the disposition of inspections and report to applicable functions/uses
- Assist QA Manager in finding root cause and corrective actions in the event of customer complaint
- Maintain lab computer databases, generate required reports, analyze and distribute to other departments
- Assist in product development evaluations including raw material evaluations, formulation/compound evaluations and specification development
- Request and/or recommend changes to the Quality Operating System
- Assist QA Manager in performing equipment and process evaluations
- Assist QA Manager in hiring process of new employees
- Supervise, coordinate, train and evaluate new employees
- Assist QA Manager in resolving day-to-day issues and recommend corrective actions for improvements
- Operate and maintain Lab equipment per Standard Testing Procedures and report deficiencies
- Assist QA Manager in performing lab equipment calibration evaluations and test method verification studies
- Maintain level of quality consistent with established standards
- Evaluate equipment performance, request materials and supplies for maintaining their effectiveness
- Ensure safe working conditions are maintained, recommend for improvements and comply with established safety rules
Qualifications
- Proven experience in quality control or quality inspection within manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of quality management principles and practices
- Excellent analysis skills with attention to detail for exact measurements and data interpretation
- Familiarity with QA/QC tools such as calipers, gauges, and other measurement devices
- Ability to collect, organize, and report data accurately for continuous improvement efforts
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to PVC or similar materials is a plus
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively across teams
