Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Inspector to join our Construction team. In this vital role, you will ensure that construction work, materials, and installations meet approved plans, project specifications, building codes, safety requirements, and established quality standards. Your strong attention to detail and analytical skills will help identify deficiencies, prevent rework, and maintain high standards throughout the construction process.
This paid position offers an excellent prospect to contribute to quality assurance and quality control processes while working closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and construction crews to ensure successful project completion.
Duties
- Conduct thorough quality inspections of construction materials, workmanship, and completed work at various stages of the project.
- Inspect foundations, framing, structural components, exterior and interior finishes, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other construction activities as required.
- Verify that construction work complies with approved drawings, specifications, building codes, safety standards, and project requirements.
- Use appropriate measurement and inspection tools to verify dimensions, elevations, levels, alignment, tolerances, and installation requirements.
- Collect and analyze inspection data to identify recurring deficiencies, quality trends, and areas for improvement.
- Document inspection results accurately, including deficiencies, measurements, photographs, and corrective actions.
- Prepare inspection reports, deficiency lists, quality control reports, and other documentation for project and quality assurance records.
- Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, subcontractors, and trades to identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
- Monitor corrective actions and verify that deficiencies have been properly addressed before work proceeds to the next stage.
- Review construction activities and materials to ensure they conform to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and manufacturer requirements.
- Perform or coordinate routine checks and calibration of inspection and measurement equipment to ensure accurate results.
- Assist with inspections, testing, and documentation required by clients, consultants, municipalities, and other authorities.
- Maintain organized quality control records, inspection logs, test results, and project documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing recommendations based on inspection findings and construction trends.
- Promote a strong culture of quality, safety, accountability, and compliance across the construction site.
Requirements
- Proven experience in quality control, quality inspection, or construction inspection within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) principles and practices.
- Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, building codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Ability to inspect and verify construction work using appropriate measuring and inspection tools.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, workmanship, and installation requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to identify deficiencies and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills, including maintaining accurate inspection records and deficiency reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, trades, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
- Ability to follow detailed inspection procedures and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Basic knowledge of data collection, reporting software, and construction management systems.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the construction team.
