Responsibilities
Strategy Research & Optimization: Research, develop, and optimize systematic and automated quantitative trading strategies using statistical methods, machine learning, and time-series analysis. Strategies may include intraday, high-frequency, and medium- to low-frequency approaches.
Trading Operations & Monitoring: Manage the day-to-day operation of quantitative trading systems, monitor strategy performance, and ensure algorithms operate reliably across changing market conditions.
Risk Management: Monitor trading risk, market exposure, and liquidity risk in real time, ensuring all trading activities comply with internal risk management guidelines and applicable local regulatory requirements.
Data-Driven Research: Clean and analyze large volumes of historical high-frequency and alternative data to identify market microstructure patterns and potential alpha signals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Quant Developers and Infrastructure teams to improve execution efficiency and optimize low-latency trading pipelines.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s or PhD degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Financial Engineering, or another quantitative discipline. Exceptional candidates with a bachelor’s degree may also be considered.
Programming:
Robust proficiency in Java, C++, Python, or R, with excellent data analysis and modeling skills. Ability to write efficient, clean, and maintainable code.
Industry Experience:
- Trader Level: 1–3 years of quantitative research or trading experience at a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or large asset management firm.
- Senior Trader Level: 3+ years of verifiable live trading performance with a demonstrated track record, including the ability to independently manage risk and PnL.
Core Skills:
- Strong foundation in probability, statistics, time-series analysis, and machine learning.
- Deep understanding of market microstructure, order book dynamics, and execution algorithms such as TWAP and VWAP.
- For cryptocurrency-focused roles, familiarity with APIs of major cryptocurrency exchanges is preferred.
Professional Skills: Strong analytical and logical thinking, high attention to data and market behavior, ability to perform effectively under pressure, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Java, C++, or Rust, with the ability to directly optimize low-latency trading and execution systems.
- Hands-on experience processing terabyte-scale tick-level historical datasets using technologies such as kdb+/q or ClickHouse.
- Strong performance in international quantitative or data science competitions, such as Kaggle or mathematical modeling competitions, or meaningful contributions to leading open-source projects.
Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: CAD $100,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Trading Bonus: Performance-based bonus determined by trading profitability and PnL results.
Pay: $100,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
