Association ONA HOURS 10 hour days 2 days a week which may include days evenings and weekends Position Summary Reporting to the Emergency Department Manager the Mental Health Crisis Team are responsible for the provision of a full range of client centred clinical services Responsibilities include but are not limited to responding to telephone crisis calls and referrals providing clinical assessments including physical health medication and side effects allergies and interactions risk assessments providing consultation and collaboration care coordination patient and family education provision of patient centred advocacy referral andor facilitating care and discharge planning and liaise with community partners Working as part of a multidisciplinary mental health outpatient treatment team the Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of quality nursing care to a patient or group of patients The provision of such nursing care is expected to be within the Standards of Nursing Practice CNO and the standards of the hospital and particular program The Registered Nurse is expected to maintain competence and skills through on going participation in continuing education and will be able to demonstrate proof of such participation The Registered Nurse actively participates in the CNO Quality Assurance Program There is also an expectation that the Registered Nurse will participate in in service and hospital wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy client centred environment as well as contributing to quality improvement and risk management initiatives Requirements Education and Experience Current registration with the College of Nurses of OntarioBScN is preferred or equivalent combination of education and experiencePost diploma certification in psychiatricmental health nursing considered an assetMinimum of three 3 years of experience working with people who have been diagnosed with a responsible mental illnesssubstance use disorder in an Acute Mental Health setting Community Mental Health setting or Mental Health Crisis Team Demonstrated and experience on risk assessments suicide prevention principles of crisis theory and interventionDemonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development as evidenced by participation in programs courses seminars that enhance skills and knowledgePartner with police in completing mobile crisis interventionWorking in concert with Police Services providing first responder 911 face to face assessment of a person in crisis including mental health assessmentsAbility to develop solid partnerships with police EMS hospitals law enforcement agencies health and social service agencies and other agenciesValid BCLS and CPR certificationDemonstrated competency to administer naloxone in emergent situationsCompletion of Suicide Intervention Training ASIST is requiredKnowledge of Crisis Management is preferredNon violent
