Role Description The Registered Pharmacist is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. In this position, the pharmacist reviews and interprets medication orders, performs clinical assessments, and ensures the secure, accurate, and timely dispensing of medications for residents in seniors’ care settings.

Responsibilities include verifying prescriptions, identifying and resolving drug therapy problems, providing medication counselling and education to care staff, and collaborating with prescribers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize resident care. The pharmacist maintains accurate documentation, supports medication system quality initiatives, and adheres to all regulatory, professional, and organizational standards. The role also involves participating in quality improvement activities, supporting audits,



and contributing to continuous enhancement of pharmacy services.

Qualifications

- Active licensure as a Pharmacist in good standing with the provincial regulatory authority in Alberta (e.g., ACP), and eligibility to practice in a Canadian pharmacy setting.
- Demonstrated clinical pharmacy skills, including prescription verification, drug utilization review, assessment of drug interactions, and application of evidence-based pharmacotherapy.
- Experience or solid interest in seniors’ care, long-term care, or institutional pharmacy practice, with an understanding of geriatric pharmacology and complex medication regimens.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, dispensing technologies, and electronic health records, along with strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation and distribution.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with physicians, nurses, care staff, residents, and families, including the ability to provide clear medication counselling and education.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to routine changes in medication orders in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to regulatory compliance, patient safety, and quality improvement, including adherence to professional standards, privacy requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited program; additional certifications in geriatrics or long-term care pharmacy are considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a community
