Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

PetFocus Bedford South is growing, and we are excited to welcome an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician to our small, close-knit team.

We are a collaborative hospital where everyone works closely together and where each team member genuinely makes an impact on the day. As our hospital continues to grow, we are looking for an RVT who thrives in a busy environment and brings strong efficiency, organization, surgical and anesthetic skills, and the ability to confidently multitask and prioritize patient care.

About the Role

Our RVTs are an integral part of both patient care and hospital flow. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who is comfortable balancing surgical, anesthetic, procedural, and appointment responsibilities while maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

- Surgery & Anesthesia: Confidently prepare and monitor patients throughout surgical and dental procedures, including anesthetic induction, maintenance, recovery, pain management, and patient monitoring.
- Efficiency & Organization: Help maintain an organized and efficient surgical and treatment workflow, anticipate next steps, prioritize appropriately, and keep patient care moving throughout the day.
- Dentistry: Assist with dental procedures, anesthesia, dental radiography, charting, patient monitoring, and recovery.
- Diagnostics & Patient Care: Perform and assist with radiographs, blood collection, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, treatments, medication administration, and other RVT procedures.
- Appointment Support: Work alongside our veterinarians during appointments and assist with diagnostics, treatments, client education, and patient care.
- Multitasking & Prioritization:



Confidently manage competing priorities while recognizing when patient needs or hospital workflow require plans to change.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with veterinarians and support staff and contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive workplace.
- Client Communication: Provide compassionate, knowledgeable education and communication to pet owners regarding treatments, procedures, medications, and home care.
- Continuous Learning: Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and opportunities to strengthen both individual skills and the hospital as a whole.

Who We're Looking For Our ideal candidate is an experienced RVT who:

- Holds an Animal Health Technician/Veterinary Technician diploma
- Has passed the VTNE and is in good standing with their provincial regulatory association
- Has strong surgical and anesthetic skills
- Is organized, efficient, and able to confidently manage their time
- Can multitask and prioritize in a busy clinical environment
- Takes initiative and can anticipate what needs to happen next
- Communicates effectively and respectfully
- Is dependable and comfortable working as part of a small team
- Takes pride in providing excellent patient care
- Brings a positive attitude and genuinely enjoys supporting their teammates

Our current hospital hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no weekends. Hours are subject to change as our team and hospital continue to grow.
