We welcome a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a robust interest or experience in veterinary Oncology to join our specialty team. If you are passionate about providing gentle, attentive patient care, supporting advanced treatment plans, and helping clients feel informed, safe, and supported throughout their pet’s cancer journey, you will find a deeply fulfilling role with us.
What You Will Do
- Clinical Assistance: Provide technical support for our lead board-certified oncologist, Dr.
Meredith
Gauthier.
- Comprehensive Patient Care: Prepare patients for advanced diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures. Administer chemotherapy and oncologic treatments. Assist with oncology-specific procedures, including biopsies, fine-needle aspirates, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and pain management.
- Client Education &
- Compassionate Support: Provide compassionate support to pet parents during cancer diagnosis and treatment. Educate and communicate with clients on medications, treatments, nutrition, preventive care, and at-home patient care.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate patient files, medical logs, and inventory.
- Team Collaboration: Work with direct team members and fellow specialty departments to deliver exceptional patient and client experiences.
What You Bring
- Completion of a Veterinary Technician or Animal Health Technician program, eligibility for registration in the applicable province.
- Experience in an emergency or specialty veterinary hospital is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of patient care, venipuncture, pharmacology, anesthesia, and clinical procedures.
- Possesses strong time-management and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to keep accurate and detailed patient files.
- Willing to further enhance technical skills and expertise.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to animal care.
- Commitment to continuing education and ongoing professional development.
