The Opportunity The Infrastructure Department is comprised of five Branches, including three Design and Construction Branches, the Wastewater Operations Branch, and the Water Operations Branch. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City’s infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc.The Engineering Inspector position is responsible for prioritizing and conducting the day‑to‑day field oversight and inspection of Municipal infrastructure construction and renewal projects. This position ensures that construction work is completed in compliance with Contract Drawings and Contract Documents; Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications; infrastructure policy and design guidelines; applicable City standards, policies, procedures and by‑laws; and/or related legislation and regulations. This position receives, investigates, and advises on the course of action to remedy issues arising from inquiries, requests and/or complaints related to infrastructure construction projects and/or renewal projects.
