Three Oaks Foundation (TOF) , located in Belleville , provides emergency shelter, second stage housing, supportive counselling and outreach services to abused women and their children in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.
TOF is seeking *female applicants for a Full Time Children's Outreach Worker to join their team
Responsibilities:
- Work cooperatively with children's and women's servicing agencies to identify client needs, provide appropriate referrals, advocate on behalf of clients, and identify children who may benefit from the program
- Develop and maintain group program descriptions for concurrent programming for children who have witnessed domestic violence and their mothers, consistent with the program description
- Develop and maintain a cooperative model for the delivery of social group work to children who have witnessed domestic violence and their mothers in partnership with community agencies, particularly Children's Mental Health, Children's Aid Society, Family Counselling Programs, Boards of Education, Second Stage Housing, Women's Counselling Services, and Aboriginal Service Providers
- Develop and maintain the intake and screening process for the program
- Inform children and women of the limits of confidentiality, including the legislated duty to report suspected child abuse
- Provide individual counselling on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to children registered in the Children's Outreach Program
- Provide individual support to mothers of children who have witnessed domestic violence through telephone, email, and in-person contact
- Develop and implement effective program evaluation processes, including meeting Ministry requirements
- Maintain accurate and confidential client files, records, and data related to the provision of direct services
Skills/Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of, familiarity with, and experience working in violence against women and children
- Extensive knowledge of the effects of witnessing domestic violence on children and issues related to childhood trauma
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Worker, or an equivalent related field
- Knowledge of child development and demonstrated experience working with children
- Extensive knowledge and experience in providing both group and individual counselling
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while contributing to a respectful, collaborative, and productive working environment
- Ability to work in a manner consistent with the mission, mandate, beliefs, and aims of Three Oaks Foundation and the Child Witness Program
- Willingness to travel, with access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver's licence
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required
Additional Information:
- Additional language skills, including French and/or American Sign Language (ASL) an asset
- Related formal education and/or additional training an asset
- Computer proficiency and experience with relevant computer applications an asset
- Salary $28-$32 per hour, with benefits as per Collective Agreement
