Orbital Research Ltd. is a Burnaby-based technology company that designs and manufactures advanced RF and satellite communications products for some of the world's most demanding environments. Our products operate from DC to 50 GHz and are deployed on vehicles, ships, aircraft, spacecraft, and remote communication networks around the globe. From initial concept through volume production, our engineers, technicians, and production specialists work together to build products where precision, quality, and reliability are critical.

We are currently seeking an experienced RF Technician to join our Production team. In this full-time, on-site role, you will assemble, test, and troubleshoot high-performance frequency converter products used in satellite communication systems deployed worldwide, both on the ground and in space. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in precision workmanship, enjoys tackling challenging assemblies, and is motivated to see complex products completed to the highest standards.

Assignments may include performing final product testing and tuning of RF circuits using RF sweepers, RF power meters, vector network analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, environmental chambers, and vibration fixtures.

MANDATORY SKILLS:

- Demonstrated experience with microwave test equipment;
- Familiarity with laboratory protocols for handling sensitive components;
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to adapt to new and changing assignments;




- Read and interpret test instructions, assembly instructions, and engineering drawings (schematics, mechanical drawings);
- Effective communication skills to work effectively with team members, supervisors, and other employees;
- Proficiency with PCs and Microsoft Office applications is needed; and,
- A diploma or certificate in electronics is preferred.
- Registered with ASTTBC

Skills that would be an advantage are:

- Trained or certified for IPC J-STD-001;
- Skilled with basic hand tools, and machinery such as drill presses, grinders, milling machines;
- Knowledge of environmental test processes and equipment;
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++ and C#; and,
- Experience developing automated test systems.
