Join Covenant House as a dedicated Youth Worker focused on transitional housing and life skills development. This full-time role requires solid interpersonal skills and a commitment to trauma-informed support.
As Canada's largest agency for homeless and at-risk youth, Covenant House is seeking a permanent Youth Worker to assist participants in their journey towards independence. You will apply a trauma-informed approach to foster growth and stability among the youth. The role demands weekend shifts and involves shift coordination with a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support youth's transition to independent living
• Conduct life skill sessions and assessments
• Engage with participants in crisis situations
• Delegate responsibilities to staff during shifts
• Ensure safety in common areas and during building checks
Requirements:
• Diploma in child and youth work or related field
• Minimum two years in shelter settings
• Understanding of case management practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of community support resources
