Job Summary

Hatch Kids Learning Centre offers PreK programs for children 3 to 5 years old and school-aged programs for children 5 to 12 years old at three locations in the heart of Richmond, BC. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the emergent curriculum, with a focus on children emotional, social, and academic growth. We are looking for a passionate Educator to join our Out-of-School-Care (OSC) licensed programs.

This position requires comprehensive knowledge of school-age child development, age-appropriate program planning and behaviour management theories. The individual must be flexible in meeting a variety of program needs to create and maintain a positive, fun, interactive, engaging, and secure environment.

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team-player who will collaborate with other educators on their team to create a unique curriculum catered to the children in the program. You are punctual and responsible with good organizational and leadership skills. You are fun, engaging, and flexible, but also comfortable with setting classroom limits and expectations.

You are confident in working in a program with 20-30 children and are interested in being a hands-on facilitator in their learning.

Duties

- Support the team in planning, developing, evaluating, and implementing an emergent curriculum that is enriching, inclusive and developmentally appropriate
- Ensure that the programs adhere to all licensing regulations
- Establishing guidelines for proper supervision of all participants that ensure their safety at all times,



including pick-up, drop-off, indoor & outdoor time
- Ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete (daily & monthly attendance, emergency drill logs, communication book, etc.)
- Build and maintain positive and professional relationships with families, teachers, licensing officers, community agencies and other service providers
- Desire to continue to learn and grow as an educator with being in-tune with changing licensing guidelines and educational frameworks and philosophies
- Keeping program facilities and equipment safe and clean (indoor & outdoor)

Requirements

- 20 hours of Responsible Adult Training or equivalent as required by BC Childcare Licensing
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate required
- A clear criminal record check
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- A valid ECE or ECEA certificate an asset
- An up-to-date immunization record
- Minimum 1 year experience working with children ages 5 – 12 years old
- Applicants must be fluent in written and spoken English and hold valid visas to work in Canada

Employment Terms:

- This is a permanent part-time split-shift position. Monday to Friday, 7:45am – 9:00am and 2:15pm – 6:15pm. Additional hours on early dismissals, professional and district closure days, spring and summer breaks.
- Salary: $18.25 - $22/hour depending on experience plus 4% vacation pay. Additional $6/hour wage enhancement for those with a valid ECE license.

Pay: $18.25-$22.00 per hour
