Position Summary

Are you looking for general labour? Are you looking to work outdoors? Then Pfenning's Organic Vegetables Inc. in Recent Hamburg, ON has the opportunity for you! Join our Seasonal Field and Production Team where you will perform a diverse range of farming duties in various settings. Hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm, will the possibility of weekend shifts.

Start date:January 2, 2027

Please note that this role is seasonal. It is expected to be required from January 2 to March 31, 2027, although the work may end earlier depending on the actual yield of our carrot crop and sales volume.

The position would then resume in June and continue for the remainder of the season, typically through February or March, depending on the year.

Job Duties

Field Work

- Completion of general farming duties including seeding, weeding, harvesting, planting and transplanting
- Must be physically fit, able to continuously lift +50lbs. and work in extreme weather conditions
- Operate machinery related to farm work, additional machinery that requires formal training may also be used as a part of the position

Packaging Line:
- Clean, crisp, trim and package product that has come in from the fields or from producers
- Operate machinery related to packing line work, additional machinery that requires formal training may also be used as a part of the position

Qualifications and Core Competencies





- Experience working on an organic vegetable farm would be an asset
- General understanding of produce quality standards
- Ability to work effectively both individually and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively within a team and take direction from a supervisor
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions
- Ability to multitask and solve problems in a dynamic work environment
- Display a strong attention to detail
- No education required

Working Conditions

- Must be able to sit, stand and move around for prolonged periods of time
- Majority of work completed in a variety of temperature environments
- Continuous learning environment including training opportunities
- General labor work attire but clothing must be clean and intact
