Position Overview The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patrons, staff, and management at the bar. The guard will monitor the premises, control access, prevent and respond to incidents, and assist with maintaining order in accordance with company policies, site post orders, and applicable Alberta laws.

Key Responsibilities1. Access Control & Entry

- Monitor all entrances and exits.
- Verify identification and age of patrons in accordance with venue requirements.
- Enforce dress code, capacity limits, and entry policies as directed by management.
- Refuse entry to individuals who are intoxicated, aggressive, prohibited, or otherwise do not meet venue requirements.
- Monitor individuals entering and leaving the premises.
- Conduct bag or property checks when authorized by venue policy and applicable law.

1. Patron Safety & Crowd Management

- Maintain a visible security presence throughout the venue.
- Monitor patron behaviour and identify potential conflicts before they escalate.
- De-escalate disputes using qualified communication and conflict-resolution techniques.
- Monitor crowded areas, dance floors, washrooms, entrances, exits, and other high-risk areas.
- Assist with maintaining safe occupancy and clear emergency exits.
- Respond promptly to disturbances, fights, medical emergencies, and other incidents.

1. Alcohol-Related Incidents

- Monitor patrons for signs of excessive intoxication or unsafe behaviour.
- Notify bar management when a patron appears intoxicated or requires assistance.
- Assist management with removing patrons from the premises when necessary.
- Monitor individuals who have been asked to leave and ensure they depart safely.
- Never use unnecessary force when dealing with intoxicated or uncooperative patrons.

Incident Response

- Respond to fights, threats, theft, property damage, disorderly conduct, and other security concerns.
- Contact management, emergency services, or police when required.
- Provide assistance during medical emergencies until appropriate medical personnel arrive.
- Preserve the scene of serious incidents when appropriate.
- Complete accurate incident reports before the end of the shift or as directed.

1. Patrol & Surveillance

- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas.
- Monitor parking areas, exterior entrances, smoking areas, and surrounding property where applicable.
- Watch for suspicious activity, unauthorized persons, vandalism, theft, or safety hazards.
- Monitor CCTV when assigned and report suspicious activity to management.

1. Closing & End-of-Night Duties

- Assist with maintaining security during closing procedures.
- Monitor patrons leaving the premises and help prevent conflicts outside the venue.
- Ensure unauthorized individuals do not remain on the property.
- Conduct final patrols of assigned areas as directed.
- Report any damage, hazards, suspicious activity, or unresolved incidents to management.

Professional Standards Security Guards are expected to:
- Remain professional, respectful, alert, and approachable.
- Maintain a clean and professional uniform and appearance.
- Follow all site post orders and company policies.




- Maintain confidentiality regarding client, staff, and patron information.
- Avoid unnecessary confrontation or escalation.
- Use only reasonable and lawful actions when responding to incidents.
- Maintain accurate and objective documentation.
- Remain attentive and refrain from sleeping, excessive personal phone use, or other activities that interfere with security duties.
- Never consume alcohol or impairing substances while on duty.

Communication & Reporting The Security Guard must maintain effective communication with:
- Bar management and supervisors.
- Other security personnel.
- Benaiah Guarding management or dispatch.
- Police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency services when required.

All significant incidents must be reported promptly and documented accurately.

Required Qualifications

- Valid Alberta Security Services Worker Licence.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to stand and patrol for extended periods.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
- Previous bar, nightclub, event, or crowd-control security experience is an asset.

Authority & Limitations Security Guards are responsible for enforcing site rules and maintaining safety but must operate within the authority granted by law, company policy, and site post orders. Guards must not exceed their lawful authority or use force unnecessarily.

Primary Objective:

To provide a professional, visible, and proactive security presence that protects patrons, staff, property, and the reputation of the venue while supporting a safe and positive environment.

Pay: $17.00-$18.50 per hour
