The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant's cooling system.This will involve:- A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM).- Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore).- An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.The project is distinguished by its proximity to an active nuclear site, requiring rigorous standards of safety, planning and coordination.What you will doAs an HR Manager, you will manage labor and union relations for a unionized workforce while acting as the primary HR point of contact for unionized and non-unionized employees. Oversee HR operations and employee relations in compliance with labor laws and union agreements. You will also support managers, resolve workplace conflicts, and ensure effective communication across teams.Labor & Union Relations- Act as the primary HR point of contact for unionized and non-unionized employees.- Lead the management of grievances, disciplinary actions, investigations, and dispute resolution, in accordance with collective agreements.- Ensure proper implementation and adherence to the collective agreement.- Advise senior management during collective bargaining negotiations.- Support labor-management discussions and ongoing union relations.- Identify potential labor relations risks and recommend preventive actions.- Facilitate effective communication between management and unionized employees.HR Operations & Employee Relations- Write, implement,



and administer HR policies and procedures related to unionized and non-unionized staff.- Provide guidance and support to employees on HR-related matters.- Support managers in handling attendance, performance, and conduct issues.- Manage and resolve workplace conflicts involving both unionized and non‑unionized employees, including complex and escalated cases.- Support change management initiatives within a unionized context.- Ensure HR practices comply with labor laws, company policies, and union contracts.- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.- Monitor employee engagement and satisfaction.- Promote a positive, compliant, and respectful work environment.Profile- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or another related field.- Progress toward or completion of CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset.- 10-15 years experience in Human Resources management, with a strong focus on labor and union relations.- Proven experience working with local unions.- Previous experience on construction‑related projects is preferred.- Strong knowledge of local employment laws and labor relations practices.- Ability to build, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, and union representatives.- High level of discretion, diplomacy, and professional judgment.Why us?- Gross annual salary between 110K and 150K, depending on experience and profile.- 4 vacation weeks & 3 emergency/sickness days paid.- Group Health Insurance (premium participation including virtual health care system).- Wellness spending account.- A cosmopolitan and inclusive work setting.- Attractive and challenging project.Location: Pickering.#J-18808-Ljbffr
