About The Opportunity
Currently, MAT 4Site has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commissioning Agent to join our team in Toronto (North York), ON on a full-time basis. This role will operate on a hybrid basis of in-office/on-site and work from home.
In this role, you will deliver commissioning projects that verify building systems are designed, installed, and operating in accordance with client requirements and engineering design intent. You will collaborate closely with clients, contractors, architects, engineers, and project teams across commercial, multi-residential, industrial, and institutional facilities.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participating in design reviews of mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, and other design documentation
- Preparing commissioning plans, specifications, design review memos, reports, meeting minutes, and issue logs
- Coordinating commissioning activities with clients, contractors, consultants, design teams, and relevant authorities
- Performing on-site observations, inspections, testing, validation, and verification of building systems
- Conducting functional performance testing of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and fire protection systems
- Reviewing building systems to verify performance against project requirements and design intent
- Identifying commissioning issues and working with contractors and project teams to troubleshoot and resolve deficiencies
- Reviewing and analyzing building automation and energy management system trend data
- Assessing system performance, reliability, stability, and sequences of operation
- Reviewing hydronic schematics, P&ID; diagrams, controls graphics, and related technical documentation
- Preparing and maintaining clear commissioning records and project documentation
- Attending job site meetings, field surveys, and other project activities as required
More About You To qualify, you will need a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering, construction, or HVAC, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning or a similar role, working with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, controls, and mechanical building systems across commercial, multi-residential, industrial, or institutional facilities, will also be essential. A valid driver’s licence and regular access to a reliable vehicle are required. Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- CBCP, BCxP, or another recognized commissioning certification
- Experience in building services design and mechanical system drawing preparation
- Knowledge and understanding of electrical building systems
- Knowledge of ASHRAE Guideline 0, CSA Z320, CSA Z318, and relevant NFPA and CSA standards
- In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and Ontario Fire Code
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, and BlueBeam
